Di was born in Southern California in 1969. At age 14 she fell ill with a high fever lasting
months upon end. Years later doctors were only able to diagnose her with an immune disorder with no known
cure.
" Little
did I know, the next 26 years of disabling fatique, feeling helpless and limited were all a part
of the Divine Plan for me. At a young age as far back as 1984, I gained a valuable piece of information -
western medicine severely lacks advanced understanding of the body. It was up to me to do my own learning, my own healing
and that I did."
Di
was in high school when Deepak's first book "Creating Health" was published in 1986. It became a favorite among
the alternative medicine books now accumulating on her home's bookshelves.
Still ill but not beaten, Di graduated from college with a California Teaching Credential, a
BA in Deaf Studies and a credential in sign language interpreting. She moved to San Diego to pursue
a job teaching the deaf but found a path of Alternative Healing .
"Moving to the beach in San Diego was a turning point for me. Up until then I may have been
taking classes in high school and college, but I now realized none of this had been my true schooling for life. My
true schooling was the outer and inner work my illness was forcing me to do. Life
didn't suddenly get easier with this realization, but certainly much more fascinating."
Since all of her free time was spent
exploring and experiencing alternative healing, Di found it only made sense to focus on a career
in this area. In 1995 she enrolled
in the School of Healing Arts in San Diego pursuing a Holistic Health Practioner's license. Here she earned
her license in various massage therapies, bodywork and a certificate in oriental medicine and shiatsu.
"Attending this school gave me the
affirmational confidence I needed with my already personal beliefs surrounding the energetics of the human body and
enhanced my natural wisdom, skills and intuitive gifts. For instance, I had seen auras as a child yet grew
up in a society where such a thing was a little absurd. At the school, auras were not only a concept accepted but
were explained scientifically in depth. I was attending this school when I heard the announcement of Deepak coming to
La Jolla. I knew my future involved Deepak and I was ready. "
In 1996, while the new Chopra Center was under construction,
Deepak sent patients that needed treatment to an ayurvedic/pancha karma clinic around the corner called Ayus Life.
Di was hired here as an ayurvedic technician and when the Chopra Center opened in La Jolla she helped train newly hired massage
therapists as ayurvedic techs. Di worked at the Chopra Center for several years, deepening her practice of meditation, practicing
yoga, and giving/receiving body work.
"I
was very lucky to have learned meditation from Deepak. He generously met with about seven of us in 1996 teaching
us advanced meditation techniques, prerequisites to join the advanced group in the upcoming meditation seminar - the
first Seduction of Spirit in San Diego. That week long meditation seminar solidified my beliefs on the benefits of meditation
and I knew I needed to teach this technique to others."
Di
became a Certified Chopra Meditation Instructor and for several more years assisted in these week long meditation
seminars held all over the country, often working closely with Deepak as she guided the seminar's alumni groups. Before
moving to Kaua'i , Di helped train new Chopra Meditation Instructors at the Teacher Training Programs.
On June 26, 2006 Di had an incredible healing, an out of body experience
that cured her entirely of her then frequent seizures, disabling fatigue, and limited lifestyle. She was now able
to work full time, build some finance and finally move to her long desired location, Kaua'i.
She now lives on the island of Kaua'i teaching Deepak's meditation
technique to those who want to deepen their own practice or learn a new one.
"I am finally home here on Kaua'i. I feel blessed that she embraces me the way
she does. Kaua'i is purity, she is organic, she is self sustainable. Here at last I feel settled and
nurtured by my surroundings. I am perpetually grateful that I live on an island that grants the opportunity
to be at one with this planet as much as possible. I still feel the change of seasons here but I can be barefoot
in the winter, breathe fresh outdoor air while I sleep, and swim in clean saltwater to purify myself of toxin build up - all
qualities I need for good health and survival. I will do my best returning the favor to her as I play my part raising the
vibrational level of Kaua'i and her inhabitants."
Not only does Di teach Deepak's courses of meditation, she works full
time at Kaua'i High School as a Sign Language Interpreter for the Deaf.
